Our Curriculum

CURRICULUM STATEMENT

The main curriculum is based on the child’s developmental milestones.  The curriculum we have chosen to meet these needs will be Partners for Learning in the Infant and Toddler classrooms and Creative Curriculum for the Preschoolers.  From these curriculums the Director will oversee the planning implemented by each classroom. The teachers will base their daily planning on age and each individual child’s needs and the belief that children learn best through play and exploration.  We also believe children need to be involved in a close, trusting relationship with their caregivers so they feel safe and secure in their learning environment.

Kid’s Castle provides many interest areas that in turn help provide many opportunities for learning and developing a variety of skills.  The classroom environment, and the center as a whole, is organized to reflect elements of the world that we live in, and provides a path for exploring ideas.  Together, all these elements combined help promote growth in your child’s social, emotional, and intellectual development.

Individually, in the Infant room the teachers will be attending to the child’s basic needs while at the same time helping them with their motor skills.  The teachers will be talking, singing, reading, playing and nurturing them.

Our young toddlers will be learning how to be independent, work to develop their fine motor skills, and continue working on their large motor skills.  The teachers will be playing, reading, singing, doing simple finger plays, simple art, and nurturing them.

Our toddlers will be learning self help; how to wash their hands, potty training, tooth-brushing, etc.  They will continue to have reading time, music, art and physical activities appropriate for their age.

Our preschool will be learning socialization skills, recognizing letters, numbers, and shapes.  They will have reading time, music, art, science and centers.  Our older Preschool II students will learn name recognition and basic letter writing when they are ready.

Our school age will continue developing their social skills.  The teachers will be playing games indoors and outdoors to help them learn to work as a team and will also provide science, reading and math projects for their continuing education.

All of our age groups will be learning good health habits, socialization skills, and about the world around them.
